Our Company Story

Hey there, welcome to my shop!

I'm Beverly, the proud owner and creator of Country Bumpkin
Candle Company. I live in a small town called Banner Elk in the beautiful Blue
Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

I have always had a thing for candles - their scent, the way
they flicker in the dark - it's been an obsession of mine for as long as I can
remember. But it wasn't until about seven years ago that the idea of actually
making them struck me.

Back then, I was working at my local Sheriff's office, and
with my four days off each week, I wanted something to keep me busy. One night,
while on duty, the thought of learning how to make candles popped into my head.
I spent weeks researching and watching videos, determined to master the craft.
Finally, I mustered up the courage to make my first candle, and drove to the
nearest craft store to get all the supplies.

Let me tell you, candle making is no walk in the park. It
took trial and error and lots of failed batches, but once I poured that first
candle, I knew I was hooked. I couldn't stop creating and experimenting until I
finally crafted an amazing smelling candle, better than any store bought
candle. That's when the idea hit me of turning my new hobby into a business.

As my candle making journey progressed, I began expanding my
range, adding different scents, sizes, and even branching out into wax melts
and bath products. At the beginning of 2020 I started selling online and at
local festivals (that wasn't canceled) but my true dream was to open a
storefront, and about 5 years later I did!

On June 1st 2024 I had my grand opening at my first
storefront and it was a huge success, with all my family, friends, and the
people that had supported me from the beginning showed up.

However, on September 27, 2024 tragedy struck my small shop.
Floodwaters burst through the back door, flooding the entire store with four
feet of water. Everything I had worked so hard to build over the past five
years was destroyed.

Against all odds, I persevered and reopened my shop on
December 27, 2024, in my current location. Now I can't imagine my life without
making candles.
